May is just the tail end of the gorgeous Spring season, and the perfect time for saying I Do! Everything is in bloom, the weather is just right, and the nasty heat of summer hasn’t reared it’s ugly head yet.
The only concern on your big day? Rain!
If your wedding is coming up, or you’re planning a Spring soiree, don’t despair. Katie and Al’s beautiful wedding day wasn’t spoiled by a little water, and neither should yours!
Scroll through to see all their rustic pink and gold details, a dreamy tented ceremony and reception, and a custom designed dress just for the bride!
Comfy silver flats for the bride, and a twine-wrapped boutonniere for the groom’s stylish deep navy blazer. We love this choice of navy for Spring; it keeps the look formal, without the stark contrast of a black suit or tuxedo.
A sweet wedding-day note from Katie is on it’s way to Al – there’s nothing better than a little love note right before the first look!
Al tears up reading Katie’s letter – this is our favorite part of the job!
Katie and Al see eachother for the first time – can you get enough of that gorgeous dress? Katie had it handmade when nothing off the rack felt right – yards of beautiful lace and a sweetheart neckline under a sheer overlay is perfection for their stylish event.
Worried rain might ruin your big day? Sometimes it makes for the best dreamy photos!
Umbrellas and rain boots save the day! These two aren’t letting the rain dampen their spirits.
Katie kept her bridesmaids looking light and bright with shades of nude, and metallic and matte whites. Little gold accents and cream accessories go perfectly with their gorgeous pink, peach, and white bouquets.
From the Bride:
“My good friend Liza at Bride’s by Liza took my wedding dress inspiration – a photo of dress worn by an SMP bride from Australia – and turned it into reality with flowing chiffon, French lace, and delicate beading. After weeks of fittings it was perfect. I couldn’t wait for my soon-to-be husband to see it. Al had his suit custom made by his suit maker, Jonathan Behr in Los Angeles. There was something about having bespoke clothing made for our wedding day that made it an extra special experience as we watched our vision take shape (literally!) before our eyes.”
Knowing the weather could be a factor, Katie planned ahead and had her ceremony and reception tented. String lights keep it softly lit – perfect for romantic “i do’s” and reception dancing!
Rich brown x-back chairs are a gorgeous choice for seating, and are spruced up with some lush greenery swag.
This beautiful tented space would be perfect in any kind of weather – the walls add a sense of intimacy, the cream color gives the space warmth, your guests have shelter from the hot sun, decor doesn’t get blown away by wind… there really is no downside!
Big grins and happy tears are our favorite moments during a ceremony.
Instead of rice or petals, Katie and Al were covered in confetti!
A celebratory rose toast is perfect for the quiet moments after the emotions of a wedding ceremony.
Aren’t these two adorable? We love Katie’s long, loose curls; they add to the romance of her amazing wedding dress.
Guests were welcomed back into the tent for an al fresco cocktail hour accompanied by saxophone!
From the Bride:
“Great live music was a must for us and the Speakeasies from San Francisco hit it out of the park with their boisterous renditions of classic big band era jazz. The guests were dancing to the tunes of Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole into the wee hours of the night.”
We’re loving this beautiful tablescape for Spring! The leafy table runners, beautiful light pink centerpieces, and calligraphy table numbers make this one of our favorites.
With a full spread of desserts, Katie and Al opted for a smaller cake, though not without a wonderfully scripted gold topper!
A first dance under the twinkling string lights.
A sparkler sendoff! It’s the most celebratory way to end a beautiful wedding!
Due to a little wet weather, we took Katie and Al out for a little portrait shoot the following day. Because who doesn’t want to use their wedding dress twice!
We hope you’re having the most lovely time as a married duo, Katie and Al!
