I’ve struggled with body dysmorphia since I was young. I’ve never loved my adult body, especially after having two kids via c-section. I always looked for validation from my partner and that, too, fell short.
My husband asked to separate earlier this year, after I had to deal with workplace harassment (hostility) for about a year and developing an anxiety disorder from my work conditions. Today, he still wants to separate and I was terminated from my job two months ago (not surprised being that I filed a complaint against my boss, which I knew would make a target).
However, I no longer look for validation from others for who I am.
I’m so glad I finally went through and did the photoshoot. I saw myself through a different “lense”. It was eye opening, empowering in a way I never expected and this experience is attainable for anyone of any shape, size or color. I did this, for me. I encourage you to do this for you. If I could go back a decade, I would have done a photoshoot because maybe I wouldn’t have hated my body and face all these years. I could have fallen in love with myself a long time ago.
Anyways, fast forward and we are here.
