And now for a super-special sneak peek: our Production Sweetheart Morgan! She and her freckled fiancee Chris took a trek out to Devine Ranch for some adorable engagement photos!
From Morgan:
After months of putting off our engagement photos, Caroline finally had to put her foot down and make me put a date on the calendar. Photographers in general like to be on the other side of the camera! Our wedding (April 12th!) is very much “my style” – lots of black, white, gold, and pink with preppy details, so I let my fiance Chris decide on the theme of our engagement photos. He’s from a very small town in the central coast of California called Atascadero, and is always more comfortable in wide open spaces surrounded by animals and nature. Caroline had shot a beautiful styled shoot not long ago at a new event venue in Santa Cruz Hills called Devine Ranch, and we knew it would be a fit. I rounded up (and had to buy a few) pieces that were more “southern” than my normal “tailored casual” look.
As I knew she would, Caroline made the shoot fun (despite the unexpected heat!) and led us around the huge ranch for an hour and a half of cuddling and laughing. Also a horse named Norman fell in love with her – which was fairly hilarious.
I can’t wait to see the whole shoot!
From Caroline:
Almost two years ago, a young lady sat in my studio to interview for the position of my assistant. She sat nervously across from me, in a blue ruffled cardigan from Anthropologie. She told me she loved weddings and that she was looking forward to someday soon marrying her boyfriend, Chris. That young lady is Morgan! Flash forward to Valentine’s Day 2013 and Chris proposed to Morgan over dinner. I remember squealing and screaming over her engagement ring the next day when we were both in the studio. Then the wedding planning began, scouring over Pinterest boards and dreaming up little details. Not long after that, Morgan approached me about photographing her wedding. Honestly, what an honor it was for Morgan to ask me. She sees my photography day in and day out and knows my inner workings. I was so happy to be able to shoot her wedding! Btw, her dad also sent me the cutest email about commissioning me as Morgan’s wedding photographer. Thank you, Mr Enns!
Then came time for her engagement session. After some scheduling and weather snafu’s, we finally got the location and date nailed down. Let me tell you, there is nothing more nerve wrecking that photographing your own assistant! Someone that knows what you do and how you do things, every little detail of my photography. Morgan sits and stares at my work all day long! She knows all my little quirks, she hears me crave cookies all day long. It’s even harder than shooting my best friends because she knows my stuff! I stayed up late the night before really prepping for her engagement session. Shhh, don’t tell her!
But what this made me do was put on my game face and get ready for battle. I was so determined to do my best and to push myself to the limit for this engagement session. No complaints, no issues, no whining, I had to have my A game on and I was so happy to be photographing them. Nicole Nguyen of Blush Bar did her magic and my gosh, Morgan looked so beautiful! The weather worked out, the light was incredible, Kat of Devine Ranch was amazing, everything was perfect.
We had so much fun, we laughed so much and I probably made a fool of myself but I am so happy to get the photographs we did and I got to know Morgan and Chris that little bit more! Oh and dearest Morgan, these aren’t the best of the photos, I’ll have to save those as a secret until you get to see the full set!
I absolutely loved watching Morgan laugh and giggle when Chris snuggled up to her. I love how Chris lights up Morgan’s face into a million little sparkly smiles. This was Morgan in love, with Chris, like I have never seen her before. I love how Chris eyes softens when he looks at Morgan as he draws Morgan into his arms. I love their synchronized laughter and how easily they settled into each other.
This is the moments I live for. Photographing people I love who are in love. And in that moment, I realized how blessed I am to have this job, to have Morgan, to have clients like Morgan and Chris and to witness a couple so in love. Oh, and also to have Norman the horse fall in love with me…
Seeing these pictures and reading about the love and care that is behind them makes me think of a well scripted Hollywood love story and not the most significant event in my only daughter’s life that is unfolding. TY………..
The photographs are beautiful, as are the subjects (on the inside and out!). Thank you Caroline for capturing these special moments and for your loving words describing the event. I am already tearing up!!
We couldn’t be more thrilled for Morgan and Chris and the love that is so evident in these beautiful pictures. They have weathered the test of time and we know that the best is yet to come. God bless you guys. Can’t wait to see you.
Thank you for the lovely comments! We can’t wait to share our wedding day with all of you!!
