There’s a particular kind of love in the way a dog looks at their person. As a Sacramento pet photographer, we believe that connection deserves more than a phone folder. Instead, it deserves to become artwork you can see every day.
We’re Milou & Olin, a portrait studio in Sacramento. Alongside the women we photograph, we also create fine-art portraits of the pets who complete their families. Rather than creating a quick snapshot, we build each pet session around your animal and their personality.

Why a fine-art pet portrait is different
Most pet photos happen by accident. You catch a lucky phone shot, a blurry lunge, or a half-closed expression.
A fine-art session works differently.
We light your pet with the same care we bring to a portrait of a person. We use a hand-finished backdrop and wait for the expressions that feel completely like them.
That might be a head tilt, soft eyes, or a goofy open-mouthed grin.
The result feels less like a snapshot and more like a piece of art.

What a pet session actually feels like
Calm, relaxed, and usually a little joyful.
We let your pet explore first. Then we move at their pace and keep the room low-pressure. Treats are welcome, and zoomies are completely fine. Some animals settle beside their person for the tender, connected frames. Others want their own solo moment in the spotlight.
Both are exactly right.
You don’t need a perfectly trained show dog. You simply need the pet you actually have, and we’ll meet them there.

What we do differently
Every image is created and finished by our own portrait artists — never a template, never AI.
We treat your pet as a genuine portrait subject. That means thoughtful lighting, deliberate composition, patient direction, and finishing designed for artwork that can live beautifully on your walls.
It’s the difference between a cute picture and an heirloom.

What it looked like recently
Recently, a devoted dog mom came in with her two doodles — all curls and personality — and we gave them room to be completely themselves.
We created warm, arms-around-them portraits where you can immediately feel how loved they are. Then each doodle had a solo turn: one in an elegant profile, the other caught mid-grin with that unmistakable doodle sparkle.
What she left with wasn’t a folder of near-misses.
It was a small collection of portraits that looked and felt like the two personalities she comes home to every day.

That’s the heart of a pet session with us: not simply documenting what your animal looks like, but preserving who they are.

If your dog, cat, or whole menagerie deserves a place on your walls, we’d love to hear about them. Start with a quick call — no pressure, just a conversation about your pet and what you’d love to create.
Where we photograph pets & their people
Our studio is in the greater Sacramento area, and pet families come to us from Folsom, El Dorado Hills, Roseville, Granite Bay, and throughout the surrounding region.
Studio sessions give us the control to create beautifully lit, consistent fine-art portraits while still giving your pet enough time and space to relax.

Frequently asked questions
My dog is not perfectly trained — can they still do a session?
Absolutely. We design the session around your animal, not the other way around. We’re patient, we use treats and breaks, and we’re well practiced at coaxing out the calm, connected moments — wiggles and all.
Can I be in the portraits with my pet?
Yes, and we love when you are. Some of the most moving frames are the ones with you and your pet together — we’ll create both those and beautiful solo portraits of them.
Can more than one pet be photographed together?
Of course. We photograph multi-pet families all the time, both together and individually, so everyone gets their moment.
What can I do with the portraits?
They’re made to live on your walls and in heirloom albums — fine-art prints, framed pieces, and folios finished by our portrait artists, so your pet becomes part of your home’s story.
