Santa Barbara, how can you be even more perfect? The light is so magical, it’s a photographer’s dream. I traveled to Santa Barbara this past Monday, and fell in love with this quaint little beach side town even more. Walking by the beach and having my toes dipped in the water, watching the waves, it’s almost meditative. Every where I turn, I saw a little big of prettiness, or what would be ideal places to photograph couples in love. Little snippets of perfection. And how can you not fall even more in love with this town? The streets were perfect, the colors were magical, even their Mission was grand… And the trees!! I love their big massive trees! I ended my night there enjoying clam chowder and crab cakes by the pier watching yachts go by… Actually to be perfectly honest, I stopped by McConnell’s ice cream shop for a late night treat – lemon ice cream, so yum!
I’m so determined to photograph a wedding there one day. Or dare I say, maybe even live there one day. This location is magical. I started daydreaming of what a perfect Santa Barbara wedding would be like and I how I would go about photographing it. A simple but elegant beach side wedding, a beautiful lace dress, summer flowers perhaps, and a couple madly in love.
I went crazy with my iPhone photos, those of you that follow me on my instagram probably noticed! I think I will be printing some of these photographs out to put on my wall. I’m already dreaming of summer vacations with my dogs Milou and Mayhem! Maybe a little cottage within walking distance to the beach? I can imagine working and editing on my laptop on a cute little porch with the dogs sleeping by my feet after a long romp by the water, smelling like the salty sea air. Heaven.
Santa Barbara thank you for making my day perfect, for making me fall in love again, for inspiring me, for pushing me creatively. And I promise, I will come back to photograph a wedding there one day!
There’s something magical about the way the light hits the old Spanish buildings you find all over Santa Barbara. It’s like another world! This ornate door was a gorgeous surprise during my adventure.
Inspiration from the perfect beaches shows up everywhere – even in the artistic decor around my hotel.
Of course, I couldn’t fall in love with a place that didn’t have amazing food.
The beaches are so picturesque and relaxing. A happy place for toes. I’ll be back soon Santa Barbara!
We live right by Santa Barbara; isn’t is so beautiful? We’re pretty lucky. Oh and McConnell’s is the BEST! I love their coconut ice cream so much! Love all of these photos!
