In between sessions yesterday, I went to hang out with Melinda, our lighting maestro. Melinda is also an awesome friend, dog owner, walker and rescuer – general fellow crazy dog person. Melinda is one of those awesome people that braves the halls of the Animal Shelter and regularly pulls dogs out for adoption through the rescue organization she works for, Grateful Dogs Rescue. She has to date rescued and found homes for hundreds of dogs. I first met Melinda years ago when we fostered a litter of pit mix puppies for Grateful Dogs Rescue. Nothing better than to surround yourself with happy dogs and relax. That’s the best thing about dogs, they are always happy to see you! If you don’t know by now, I am a big dog person =)

Hehe, I love this one with the double dalmatians!

This is Melinda’s foster girl, Peanut. She’s a cute tiny little thing and I instantly feel in love with her. It looks like Peanut might have found a home finally!

Check out her ears!

This is Olive, or as Melinda calls her, Olive Pit. Geddit, geddit?

This is Girl. Girl is very beautiful and has a wonderful temperament. Girl also needs a home. Come on people, help Girl find a home!

And that’s Melinda doing her thing!

Ok, so now, after all the happy and fun photos of doggies, let’s get to the serious side of the post. Melinda, Grateful Dogs Rescue and SF Animal Care and Control really need any help regarding the cruel death of a puppy that Melinda rescued. Melinda rescued Pogo, a 7 month old 3 legged puppy a while ago. He went missing and was abducted in Ocean Beach last week while playing with his foster parent. And the story turned out for the worst. Please read the article on SFGate but please be aware that there is graphic detail about his death and abuse. There is also a reward out for any information leading to an arrest. SFACC really needs help tracking this person down, what happened to Pogo is sad and unforgivable. I feel that as dog owners, we should not have to worry about someone potentially abducting and hurting our dogs while we exercise them in public areas. Who would be so cruel as to hurt an innocent dog. Pogo was a happy puppy that loved everyone and trusted everyone. Let’s try to track this person down before more dogs are abducted and hurt.
Here’s a pic of Pogo, if anyone has any info, it will be very much appreciated. Anyone with information about Pogo’s death – or information on Pogo being taken from Ocean Beach – should call Animal Care & Control at (415) 554-9400. You can also contribute to his reward fund or watch this news report of Pogo’s story.
