Hello and Happy Monday! I’m back with another peek into the crazy world of planning for my April 2014 wedding. I’ve got my coordinator, Yelena from the Stylish Soiree, working on lots of projects – from DIY signage to gilded centerpieces; I couldn’t be more excited! The dress is picked out (I can tell you it’s Lazaro, but I don’t want to spoil any surprises!) and obviously the photographer is booked (how could I resist the delicious way Caroline captures her couples?). I only have one bridesmaid left to ask, and we’re doing our much-anticipated tasting at Il Fornaio in September. I’m also excited to meet a very fabulous florist on Thursday to talk flowers; I’ll reveal who it is if they turn out to be the right one! I feel very relaxed and happy about the way the planning is going.
So I thought I’d talk invitations since I’ll be meeting with the lovely people at Aerialist Press soon to discuss the design.
Since it’s a black-tie, evening wedding, we’ll want something that is polished and a little on the fancy side. Our main colors are black, white, pink, and gold, and I love stripes, polka dots, and interesting patterns. The invitation suite above is so beautiful, and definitely gives off “black tie” as soon as you open the envelope.
Even though this is a little more “Gatsby-esque”, I love the stripes and minimal use of color. The way the typography is laid out is also really adorable. I’m in love with everything about this suite – the variation of patterns, the hints of gold, even the custom stamps! It may be a little too casual for our event, but it can definitely provide some inspiration!
Ombre was everywhere for a while, but I still love it when done artistically and minimally. This bright pop of color is softened with it’s watercolor application on thick, textured paper.
These invitations are really sweet and full of color. I adore the polka dots inside the envelope, the colorful script, and the stripes!
With only a few vendors and details to iron out, I’m feeling like reveling in each moment of wedding planning – and completely enjoying it. I hope everyone currently planning their wedding can do the same!
xoxo – Morgan Elizabeth
