Happy Monday! There’s been a lull in actual “wedding planning progress“, so I thought I’d share some of the most inspirational weddings (and shoots!) that I’ve seen since starting here at Milou + Olin. And it gives me an excuse to pull up some of our prettiest photos!
Styled Shoot: Happily Ever After
This first one is very near and dear to my heart – it goes back to when I was in San Luis Obispo, working my days away after graduating from college. Even though it wasn’t the right time to get hitched, I still pored over sites like Style Me Pretty and Ruffled, soaking in the romantic details. One perfect day, this gem popped up on the site, rendering me speechless. I’m an unabashed little girl at heart, and the fairy tale elements in this gorgeous shoot were just too much for me! Little did I know I’d be working for the photographer who dreamed it up (really, she dreamt it!) a few years later!
With the help of the ever-fabulous Mary at Very Merry Events, Caroline put together this shoot from a dream. And it’s so dreamy! The white, cream, peach, and navy color palate is completely delicious! These accessories are delicate but make a big impact. Could you ask for a better invitation suite? It’s full of scrollwork and fabulous typefaces. Not to mention beautiful calligraphy on the envelopes! The bride and groom signage on the chairs is lovely – it goes with the scroll motif and the gold text is so fancy! The bride’s bouquet is a lovely eclectic mix of peach, blush, and white flowers. This adorable wall is such a unique idea! Using props and giant lettering to spell out the bride and groom’s story – like an animated page from a book! This tablescape is beyond words. The gold utensils and charger, the glittering apples, and of course that flower runner! It’s over the top. Another close up of that runner!
Brittany and Scott’s wedding was a mix between traditional and modern, and was all white and pink! Here are some of my favorite moments:
A little sparkle never hurt! These fabulous shoes and Brittany’s crystal belt add some glamour to her getup.
Brittany had a bouquet worth lusting after: it was a mix of gorgeous flowers all in pink, navy and cream that made for a beautiful structured arrangement.
Groom style: formal! Scott pulls off a tux and bow tie with flair.
What I learned from this wedding: flowers don’t have to be everywhere to make an impact! They frame the ceremony space beautifully and add some color!
Bride and Groom chair decor: mossy! These unique letters really bring some whimsy into the reception. Typeface: full of flourish! Using black to make everything else pop: excellent! A giant chalk wall is a fabulous photo focal point – and that’s exactly how they used this later in the night! Using succulents sparingly: I’ve seen so many weddings where it’s entirely succulents, which looks amazing, but I don’t think I could give up flowers! Sneaking a succulent in here or there still looks fab.
Besides the fact that Peggy did SO much of this wedding with her own fabulous design skills, it’s just a wonderful mix of eye-opening romantic style that makes vintage feel modern.
What I learned from this wedding: long sleeves can be done in the best possible way. Peggy looked like she was born to wear this dress! The sheer lace and voluminous skirt felt fresh and nostalgic at the same time.Another bride who identifies with the love of sparkle! These shoes have an ample supply. Doesn’t Peggy look absolutely timeless? I swooned when I saw these photos. Tip: Have fun with your bridesmaids. I love these pictures! And goofing off before your ceremony can relieve so much stress! What I learned from this wedding: Pouf is good. Don’t be afraid of it! It creates amazing photos like these. I’ve never fallen in love with a chair quite the way I did when I saw these lovely creations! It’s so fabulous and romantic, but feels very natural.
There were so many amazing moments in this over-the-top wedding, but my favorite was the unique decor. The flowers for this event were beyond compare.
A tulip and candle backdrop? Yes please! Ceremony decor just got raised up a level! These centerpieces look like pieces of art! The tulips and succulents are my favorite bits. I love how much attention was paid to the little details: even the ring pillow matched the centerpieces! What I learned from this wedding: lighting a space goes a long way. Check out the pink walls! This space might feel completely white and cavernous without it.
So that’s my Monday roundup of favorites! Have a good week lovelies!
