Flowers: The Icing on the Wedding Cake
There is nothing more enchanting (to me!) about weddings than the magical power of flowers. When else do we fill an entire room with beautiful arrangements, or carry bouquets around with us? The scent, the fragility, and the beauty of flowers is something that will always make wedding decor unique and romantic.
So when Yelena (my coordinator) asked, “Have you thought about flowers?” I was surprised that I hadn’t! Once I started digging, I found out the world of florals is a giant and complex one. Availability and pricing depends on where you live, what time of year your wedding is, and how far away your florist is from your venue. Even though I love them, I discovered my wedding was too late for tulips, and too early for peonies. The more I looked, the more I found that I did lean toward a specific style – nothing overly undone or romantic, more constructed and bold.
As I built up my Pinterest board with ideas, I felt less unprepared to tell my florist what I wanted, and more excited about what the flowers will bring to the theme of my wedding as a whole.
Pinterest Picks:
This gorgeous arrangement is by far one of my favorites, because it’s interesting from every angle. The table linens also make me swoon (black and white will have a big role in my wedding) I also approve of the limited and effective use of billy balls; I’ve seen them everywhere and am a bit sick of them… but not here! This is so fresh and beautiful. I love the bunch of giant sculptural flowers and the pop of green the leaves add to it. The striped ribbon is just a cherry on top. How adorable is this boutonniere? I might add a few more little flowers, but the shape of it is perfect.
The sparkles are obviously over the top, but I love the mix of beautiful flowers here. The anemones have become a favorite of mine while looking through bouquet photos – they’ll be a must!
Sometimes simple is the most striking – similar to the all-white bouquet above, but in garden roses instead of peonies. So beautiful!
Hopefully I’ll be meeting with my florist soon (I had to postpone our first meeting because I got sick…) to talk about all these amazing details and I’m sure she’ll make it all breathtaking. So excited!
Thanks for tuning in!
