I have been wanting to write this for a while, so just excuse my emotional outpouring! Ok, to be honest, there are many reasons I love my job. I am one of those lucky people that get to do what I love for a living and follow my bliss. There is nothing better than that! Sure it can be hard some days to be self employed, I worry what happens when I get sick, and then I do get sick and manage anyhow. It’s hard and tough work, people think we photographers don’t work but running your own business takes time and energy. So does all the post processing I do as part of my work. I’m not just a shoot and burn photographer. Each piece of work I do carries a part of me.
I love portraits and getting to know people. I really believe that there is a story behind every photo. Every one has their own tale of life to tell and I have so much to learn. I love portraits that make you connect with the person and make you feel. I love the people I have come to meet through my photography and the places I have travelled to. I have done so much I never thought I would and I am blessed.
I love the pure beauty and love in weddings. There is something so honest about two people professing their love to each other and promising to be together forever. Growing up, my family has had their own share of ups and downs and to see a couple share renewed love and faith is almost magical to me. Weddings are such big and momentous occassions. And I have to admit, I love all the little details: the flowers, the paper products, the colors… yes, even the chairs and silverware choices. Most of all I love fashion! Brides, I love your dresses, your shoes and your little accessories. Grooms, your tuxes ain’t so bad either!
There is also nothing more beautiful than a glowing bride. No stare more powerful than that of the groom watching his bride to be walk down the aisle. It’s as if no one else in the room or world exists! I still get teary eyed at each wedding. Sniff…
A huge job perk; I love the joy that my work brings to the people I meet. I am always shocked when someone tells me how much my photographs move them. Everytime someone emails me to tell me how much they appreciate my work, I stare in disbelief and am on cloud 9 the whole day!
And most of all, it’s emails like this that lets me know I am doing what I am supposed to:
“The photos of Jeff and Yan’s wedding are incredible. Beyond any wedding pictures we have ever seen. Thank you for capturing their special day in such an extraordinary way with your amazing talent! Thank you so much, again for giving all of us such wonderful memories of a special day!” (Jeff’s mom)
“We were anxiously checking you blog everyday in hopes of seeing them! OMG!!! They are phenomenal! Everyone that I showed them to were blown away by the pictures. I think I have watched the slideshow over 20X now. Jeff cried all over again!” (Yan)
Thank you again, Yan, Jeff and Marcia. Yan and Jeff, you guys are a special couple! Hope you are enjoying your honeymoon!!
