Happy Monday Lovelies!
Sometimes we feel like sharing the cute things we do in the off-hours; when we aren’t shooting beautiful weddings or are sequestered in the office.
Ever in need of a cute, quick gift? Not only is this one thoughtful and adorable, but it’s useful!
DIY Date Night Jar
From Caroline:
One of my best girlfriends, Chelsey (see her adorable engagement sneak peek here!), is getting married this weekend!! For Chelsey’s bridal shower, we were supposed to bring one date night idea each, so Sofia and I decided to sit down and make her a date night jar! The idea is that Chelsey and Jeff can use the date night jar when they are stumped for good ideas, or want to mix up their routine. We added categories to make it all more usable… read on for the DIY!
P.S. This is easy, fast, cheap and so much fun to do.
Items needed
- Washi Tape (varying colors or patterns)
- Popsicle Sticks
- Jar (ours is a mason jar, but any large enough to hold all your popsicle sticks will work!)
- Pen or marker
Instructions
1. Designate one color of washi tape for each category.
2. Put different color tape on sticks (10 sticks each)
3. Write out great date night ideas on each stick
4. Put in jar for easy access and storage
We left 5 empty sticks in per category so they can add their own fabulous ideas.
Extras:
-You can also decorate the jar, but we kept it simple (you could even tailor it to your gift recipient!)
-Make seasonal date ideas: sledding in the winter, river rafting in the summer, etc.
-Make a category for each person if you’re giving it to a couple – it’s a lesson in compromise, and they can introduce each other to their favorite activities.
-Be sure to keep adding to it! You can throw away sticks if the activity is a “one-time” event, or keep your favorites for repeats, but any time you think up a new date idea, add it to the jar!
Here’s a few of our categories and ideas!
Treat Yourself
- Bed and breakfast in wine country
- Tomales bay oyster company
- Couples massage at a spa
Local Flavor
- Bowling night
- River tubing
- Rivercats game night
A Night In
- Dessert night
- Build a fort! Make it your hideout for the night.
- Dinner and stargazing in your backyard
Feeling Adventurous
- Weekend in San Diego
- Camping in the dessert
So get creative, and personalize it! If you’re making it for yourself, add some favorite restaurants or favorite spots for a guaranteed great night out, or have a “feeling lucky” category for new hotspots or types of food. This is so customizable, and could be a great gift for anyone.
We hope you’re inspired!
