Happy Monday all! I just had a fantastic weekend trying on wedding dresses (So freaking exciting!) At a few different locations, but since multiple places wouldn’t allow photography the adventure will have to be recapped later. So I’ll move on to the awesome task of styling all my besties – and Chris’s crazy groomsmen!
Bridesmaid Style
I almost love thinking about how to dress and accessorize my bridesmaids and MOH more than myself! I have a stunning group of girls, and they really would look good in so many things. I knew when I started designing my wedding with Yelena that I wanted black bridesmaids dresses. Black is super flattering, looks amazing in photos, fits the formal dress code, and makes bright jewelry and shoes really pop!
This is the first dress I seriously considered. Caroline saw it on White House Black Market’s website and I grabbed my MOH Stephanie to see how it looked in person. Isn’t she just all kinds of adorable? The dress looked really cute on, and I must admit it was fun playing dress-up with her! The shape of the dress was great, but it was slightly too long on her, and one of my other bridesmaids is about her height; alterations also would have been needed on the straps… so in other words too much work! I also wasn’t convinced it was formal enough for our swanky soiree. My Mom (that’s her hand in the shot!) and I found this one over at La Soie, a local bridal salon. It’s amazingly cute with that bow in front and the lacy overlay on top. I need to steal Stephanie away again to try it on! It’s one of the more expensive picks, but if its super flattering it will be worth it. This is one of my current obsessions – a polished Alfred Sung dress with the high neck, bow tie, and a full skirt. It’s so adorable I can’t stand it! If the girls like it, it could be what I go with. For accessories, I want something that really pops! Obviously it will depend on the neckline of the dress we end up going with, but this Sabine bib at Piperlime definitely has a lot of elements I love. Can you say polka-dot tights? I think these would add a bit of stylish whimsy to the look of the bridesmaids. I want a really crazy colored shoe for my bridesmaids – something with a lot of punch. In a perfect world, these Kate Spade shoes would show up on each of their doorsteps! The fuchsia color is awesome, they look like good dancing shoes! Decked out nails are an absolute must! This posh black and gold design would look amazing.
Groomsmen Style
On to the men!! Chris has a really awesome group of guys he’s asking to be at the wedding. His brother and my brother two tall blond peas in a pod, and it makes me giggle to think of these surfer boys in penguin suits! But keeping with the “black tie” wedding, all the dudes will be donning tuxes.
Nothing looks quite as good as a tux does – and I can talk the boys into it by allowing James Bond quotes all night. Tom Ford really knows how to dress up a suit – I love the black and white details in the pocket square and polka-dot bow tie. Something different, like this zig-zag style bow tie, would look fabulous on the boys. I told Chris as long as I get a say in what they wear, the accessories are up to them! So whether its comic-book-inspired cufflinks or robot boutonnieres, I want the “dudes” to be represented.
Chris actually sent this to me, and warned that this picture could be in the lineup. What do you think Caroline?
The planning stages right now are so much fun!
I’ll keep you up on all the goings-on over the next few weeks!
xoxoxo – Morgan Elizabeth
